Unless you have been watching the Premier League before 2002, you likely have not heard of Ipswich Town FC. The club has played in the league since its inception back in 1992. The last time we saw the club was during the 2001/2002 season. The team got relegated that year and was sent to the EFL Championship. The team managed to earn only 36 points with 9 wins which placed them at 18th. The relegation came as a massive shock to fans as the team’s performance was quite impressive during the previous season, where they placed fifth with 66 points and 20 wins. Despite the relegation, Ipswich Town started to improve their performance in the EFL Championships. They weren’t quite able to make it back to the Premier League, but consistently placed near the top five. However, their consistency was cut short as they began dwindling their placements. This lack of motivation resulted in them falling even lower in the ranks until eventually during the 18/19 season of the EFL Championships.

They placed dead last at 24th during that season. They won only five games out of 46 and accumulated only 31 points. This resulted in them getting relegated again to the EFL League One. At this point, the conditions at the club were quite gloomy as the constant losses and poor showings were quite disheartening for fans and players alike. The players lacked creativity and potency both individually and as a team. After a few seasons in League One, they reached a stalemate and were unable to improve their performance.

However, after four seasons in the EFL League One, the club finally managed to qualify back to the next tier. They placed second during the 22/23 with 98 points, just three points behind Plymouth Argyle. This promoted the team back to the second-division EFL Championships for the 23/24 season. After a few seasons of satisfactory displays during the third division, the club managed to miraculously pull through and surpass everyone’s expectations.

The squad finally showed signs of life and their capabilities to perform as a team. Slowly they began to form a strong chemistry and continued to develop their defensive line-up. These changes enabled them to place second in the 23/24 season of the EFL Championship with 96 points, just one point behind Leicester City. With this major refinement, the club can now finally return to the Premier League after more than 20 years.

With the addition of Arne Slot as their new Head Coach, fans are excited to see how the club will perform during the upcoming season. Tottenham Hotspur is a club that, at times, is hailed as the most unlucky and unpredictable in the Premier League. This was evident in the first ten games of the last season; they were simply unstoppable. But inconsistency caught up to them quickly and followed them till the end. I am sure he has been working on it to find a solution, and if he can arrive at one, then we are yet to see the best of them.

Ange’s management has been making changes in the squad since the end of last season. They have released several old campaigners and are looking to transition into a more young, energetic squad, which is one of the bigger requirements for his playstyle. They have taken in Dominic Solanke from AFC Bournemouth, who by any means is a very good signing. He scored 19 goals for his former club last season and helped them evade relegation, by miles to be precise.  A young, prolific striker like him could help fill the gap of Harry Kane. They have also onboarded two young, talented midfielders, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, who have already shown their capabilities in the preseason games. A young and pacey midfield will help Ange execute his maneuvers more precisely. Judging by the quality of the players they have taken in, they can build one of the strongest squads this season.

Besides inconsistency, Tottenham’s weakest link last season was their defense. Ange likes to deploy a high-line defense to make his midfield more compact and stronger. This has proved costly for him several times. So, Ange would like Porro and Udogie to be more energetic and tactical in the field to ensure the defense line is not infiltrated so easily. There are several factors that have to go right for Tottenham to succeed in the 24/25 season, but till now, all things point to the north Londoners.

Steve Cooper likes to build his team by focusing on the defense part and prefers to play in counter-attacking strategies. He employed this tactic for Notting Forrest, whose primary aim was to prevent the relegation zone and reach a mid-table position. But things are different for him now as he is the coach of a once Premier League-winning club. He would naturally look to build a team that could put up a fight with the top team in the league.  However, the loss of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea has come off as a big blow for both him and the club. Dewsbury-Hall was the best playmaker for Leicester in the Championship. He provided 14 assists throughout the whole season, which was the highest.

To address the loss of Dewsbury-Hall, Cooper has brought in Michael Golding from Chelsea, who is also a young, talented midfielder. But the Dewsbury-Hall’s shoes have to be filled in by Issahaku Fatawu, who was the second-best assist provider last season and a great playmaker nonetheless. Bobby De Cordova-Reid has also been brought in from Atlanta to company Jamie Vardy. Coming to Vardy, he has also made an incredible comeback in the last season and scored 18 goals. There will be much less pressure for Steve Cooper if the veteran forward can also take this form to the Premier League.

However, fans will be most nervous seeing the Foxes’ performance in the Preseason games. They have managed to win only one out of three, and I wouldn’t say they faced the strongest of opponents. Their two defeats came against Palermo and Augsburg, and both times, they failed to score any goals.

Even though they haven’t been at their best during the pre-season games, they should be able to find their rhythm soon.

Arteta could have built his dream team last season had his defender Jurriën Timber not succumbed to an injury Knee at his very debut match. However, this time around, Arteta has addressed the problem by bringing another capable Italian center back to the team. In their first major encounter, they faced West Ham, where they beat them 3-1. They put on an impressive performance and won the game comfortably at the end, even after West Ham took an early lead. However, they lost their next match against Crystal Palace by 3-1, which could have been otherwise had it not for some silly mistakes made by their players. They made a strong comeback in their next outing against RB Leipzig, where they beat them 3-0.

Gary O Neil has done several signings for the next season, and some of them have already started to deliver. They have transferred in players like Jorgen Strand Larsen, Pedro Lima, and most notably, Rodrigo Gomes, who had 14 goal involvements for his former club in the last season. Gomes has already shown his potential, scoring twice against West Ham coming off the bench. He won the match for his team, which at the start was one goal down. He again scored a goal against RB Leipzig, sealing the win for Wolves. He might end up becoming a key figure in the upcoming season.

Even though they have boarded some good players, they have also lost a key figure, Maximilian Kilman, to West Ham. This may become costly for the Wanderers, as he was their best defender in the team. There are also rumors of Pedro Neto leaving the club, which will definitely be a big blow for O Neil, considering Neto’s ability to bring attacking prowess to the team.
